Overview

Smartphone GNSS Booster combines a phone-mounted signal re-radiator board with an Android app to address noisy smartphone GNSS measurements and support real-time RTK positioning. An external active GNSS antenna feeds the board, which re-radiates signals through an L1/L5 patch antenna to the phone's built-in receiver. The app reads raw measurements, converts them to RTCM3 MSM7 observations, streams them to a cloud RTK server, and displays the returned position solution. The server is separate and must be provided by the user.

Key features

  • Board re-radiates signals from an external active GNSS antenna to the phone's built-in receiver.
  • Android app converts raw GNSS measurements to RTCM3 MSM7 observations.
  • App streams observations to an RTK server and displays its returned position solution.
  • Repository includes KiCad board design files and app build and usage instructions.

Best for

Useful for developers and researchers exploring real-time RTK positioning with Android phones. It requires an external active GNSS antenna and a separately running RTK server.
