About GoAstro
GoAstro is a free practice ground for the AI era: real open-source projects to fix issues in with AI coding agents, plus the tools and write-ups for them.
What GoAstro is
GoAstro is a free place to practice software engineering the way it is done now: with an AI coding agent, on real code. It lists open-source projects to practice on, tools to practice with, and write-ups of real fixes. Toy exercises do not prepare you for an interview that asks how you ship with AI. Real issues in real projects do.
How to practice here
Pick a project, read its open issues, choose a small one you can reproduce, and work through it with an AI coding agent. The AI drafts, you own every line. When it works, open a pull request upstream or keep the fix in your fork. Then write down what the bug was, how you fixed it and what the AI got wrong. Be polite to maintainers: small, well-tested changes first.
Where the projects come from
Every project is a GitHub fork kept in sync with its original every day. The short explanations are written with AI assistance from each project's own public description, then published in English, Japanese and Chinese. They are summaries, not copies, and can contain mistakes. Each page links to the original and shows its license. Where a project has no license, that is stated too.
Keeping it current
GoAstro is checked and updated every day. New additions appear in New finds on the home page. The site is free and supported by ads, which are labeled and kept out of the way.
