Overview
PLFM_RADAR, also called AERIS-10, is an open-source, low-cost 10.5 GHz phased array radar using pulse linear frequency modulation. It comes in two versions, a 3 km range model and a 20 km range model. The project shares schematics, PCB layouts, firmware and software, so researchers, drone developers and SDR hobbyists can experiment with beamforming, pulse compression, Doppler processing and target tracking.
Key features
- Two versions: 3 km with patch array, 20 km with slotted waveguide array
- Electronic beam steering up to 45 degrees in azimuth and elevation
- FPGA handles pulse compression, Doppler FFT, MTI and CFAR
- Python GUI with map integration, plus GPS and IMU correction
- Modular boards for power, frequency synthesis and RF
Best for
Researchers, drone startups and advanced makers who want a hackable radar platform to study. It is a hardware project, so it needs electronics skills and parts to build.
