Overview
AVR8js is a JavaScript library, written in TypeScript, that simulates the 8-bit AVR architecture used in Arduino boards. It runs in the browser or Node.js and is the core of the Wokwi Arduino simulator. It implements only the CPU core, so you supply compiled machine code and write the simulation of any external hardware yourself.
Key features
- Simulates the AVR 8-bit CPU in JavaScript
- Runs in the browser and in Node.js
- Executes pre-compiled machine code
- Core of the Wokwi Arduino simulator
Best for
Developers building Arduino simulators, teaching tools or virtual labs. It covers only the CPU, so external hardware and visuals must be added separately.
