Overview

This project is a Pi-hole-style DNS ad-blocker for ESP32-C3 devices. It stores a blocklist as hashed domain entries in flash, so it can run without keeping the full list in RAM and still answer blocked lookups while forwarding other DNS requests. The device is set up and managed through a web dashboard, and it can update firmware and blocklist data over WiFi.

Key features

  • Runs a Pi-hole-style DNS sinkhole on ESP32-C3
  • Stores the blocklist as hashed entries in flash instead of RAM
  • Answers blocked lookups and forwards other DNS requests
  • Provides a web dashboard for setup and management
  • Updates firmware and blocklist data over WiFi

Best for

This project suits people who want a small DNS sinkhole for a local network and prefer to keep the blocklist out of RAM. It is useful when you are working with an ESP32-C3 board and want a direct web dashboard for setup and updates.
