Overview
OSRM, the Open Source Routing Machine, is a routing engine written in C++14 for OpenStreetMap data, and this is its backend. Services are available through an HTTP API, a C++ library interface and a NodeJs wrapper. They are Nearest, Route, Table, Match, Trip and Tile. A public demo server with a frontend is available for a quick trial.
Key features
- Nearest snaps coordinates to the street network
- Route finds the fastest route between coordinates
- Table computes durations or distances between coordinate pairs
- Match snaps noisy GPS traces to roads
- Trip solves travelling salesman with a greedy heuristic
Best for
Developers who want a self-hosted routing service on OpenStreetMap data with HTTP, C++ or Node.js access. A demo server lets you try it before installing.
