Overview
Mapbox TUI is a Go terminal map viewer and journey planner for recorded activities and planned routes. It helps users inspect tracks and elevation, replay recordings, and organize multi-stop journeys without requiring a graphical map app. Import GPX, FIT, TCX, or KML files, then use the keyboard or mouse to explore them. Manual route plans and file viewing work offline; Mapbox adds place search and walking, cycling, and driving road routes. JSON output and a local MCP server support scripted or agent-driven workflows.
Key features
- Inspect activity tracks, distances, and elevation profiles, and replay recordings at different speeds.
- Load multiple activity and route files together, then select, hide, and compare them.
- Plan journeys by choosing and reordering stops; use Mapbox for place search and walking, cycling, or driving routes.
- Import GPX, FIT, TCX, and KML files, and use JSON CLI output or a local MCP server to inspect and control maps.
Best for
Useful for people who want to inspect activity files or plan journeys from a terminal. Choose it when offline file viewing matters, or when Mapbox search and road routing are needed.
