Overview

A datathon project that maps public transport delays in Wroclaw, Poland. The authors worked from a dataset of vehicle locations and delays recorded between 17 November and 1 December 2016. They computed how much delay builds up between each pair of stops and drew those stop-to-stop segments on interactive maps, so readers can see where delays tend to start.

Key features

  • Computes delay change between consecutive stops from raw location data
  • Filters by weekday or weekend and by time of day
  • Averages delay per stop-to-stop segment
  • Draws colored segments on interactive HTML maps using GTFS stop coordinates

Best for

Anyone studying how delays form in city transit, or looking for a small example of turning delay records into a map. The data covers only Wroclaw and about two weeks.
