Overview

probematch is a small JavaScript module that matches a single GPS measurement, called a probe, or a sequence of them, called a trace, to a road network. It builds a flatbush spatial index of the roads so lookups are quick. Matching uses configurable distance and bearing filters, and roads are given as a GeoJSON FeatureCollection of LineStrings. Install it from npm as @mapbox/probematch.

Key features

  • Matches single GPS probes or whole traces to roads
  • Builds a flatbush index for quick matching
  • Configurable bearing and distance filters
  • Takes roads as GeoJSON LineString features

Best for

JavaScript developers who need lightweight matching of GPS points to a road network, using GeoJSON data.
