Overview
mapbox-tile-copy is a command line tool that takes local geodata files and writes them as tiles to S3 or to the local file system. You give it a source file and a destination URL template that includes the {z}/{x}/{y} scheme. Sources named in the README include mbtiles and GeoJSON, which is converted into vector tiles. Writing to S3 needs AWS credentials in your shell environment. Mapbox states that the repository is no longer actively maintained.
Key features
- Copies tiles from an mbtiles file to S3 or a folder
- Converts GeoJSON files into vector tiles
- Destination templates use the {z}/{x}/{y} scheme
- Installs globally with npm
Best for
Users who need a quick path from local geodata to a tile folder or S3 bucket. Note that it is no longer actively maintained by Mapbox.
