Overview

PGSimCity is an explorable 3D city that shows how PostgreSQL works internally. Buildings stand for PostgreSQL components and motion shows how they interact. You can follow a query, investigate a growing table, or see what changes when memory, checkpoints and replication become bottlenecks. It runs in a browser with WebGL2 and needs no installation. A guided case starts from a table that keeps growing even though autovacuum is running.

Key features

  • 3D city where buildings represent PostgreSQL internals
  • Guided investigation of a vacuum blockade
  • Follow a query or a growing table through the system
  • Runs in the browser with WebGL2, no install

Best for

Developers and DBAs who want a visual way to learn PostgreSQL internals and practice diagnosing problems. It needs a browser with WebGL2.
