Overview
HiKid is a free, open-source desktop app that helps children in non-English-speaking countries practice English speaking and listening. The child talks into the microphone and an AI companion answers in English, tells stories and plays word games. Recording, speech recognition, speech synthesis and the language model all run on the local machine, so nothing is uploaded to the cloud. It is built with Electron, React and TypeScript.
