Overview

LayerFS is a filesystem layer for agent workflows that gives each agent a complete, writable workspace over shared committed history without copying the base. Agents can work in parallel, save changes as deduplicated checkpoints, then branch, rewind, or merge their work. It is currently used through the LayerFS × DSH plugin for DeepSeek Harness, where agents fork branches, test in sandboxes, and publish changes. The Store's disposable profile is not intended as the only copy of irreplaceable data.

Key features

  • Writable workspaces over shared committed history without copying the base
  • Parallel agent work with deduplicated checkpoints
  • Branch, rewind, and merge changes
  • LayerFS × DSH integration for testing in sandboxes and publishing changes

Best for

Teams running parallel AI-agent workflows that need shared history and a way to preserve and combine changes. Its disposable Store profile is for agent work, not the only copy of data that cannot be rebuilt.
