Overview
VERT is a file conversion tool that uses WebAssembly to convert files on your own device instead of uploading them to a cloud service. It is built with Svelte and TypeScript and has a public instance at vert.sh. It converts images, audio, documents and video, supports over 250 formats, and has no file count or file size limits. Video conversion on the official instance runs on a server, but the daemon, vertd, can be self-hosted to keep everything local. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0.
Key features
- Converts files locally in the browser with WebAssembly
- Handles images, audio, documents and video
- Supports over 250 file formats
- Self-hostable daemon for fully local video conversion
Best for
Good for people who want free file conversion without sending files to a third party. Fully local video needs the self-hosted daemon.
