Overview
ffmpeg-skill is a local video and audio editing toolkit packaged as an Agent Skill for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and agents that read SKILL.md. It uses FFmpeg and Python to work on files on the user's machine, following a probe, edit, check, and verify workflow. Its tools cover tasks such as cutting, joining, captions, audio cleanup, format fitting, and delivery checks. Tools can also be called through MCP, which lists a smaller core set by default. It requires ffmpeg and python3 on PATH.
Key features
- Cut, join, and fit media to a duration or aspect ratio
- Create captions and karaoke effects, overlays, and motion graphics
- Clean up audio, correct sync, and check loudness
- Run delivery checks and render editing projects
Best for
People who want to edit or check local video and audio files with FFmpeg, including through a coding agent. It is a fit when media should remain on the user's machine and the required tools are installed.
