Overview
SCM is a macOS app for finding photos and video moments across folders using plain-language visual search. It also searches text visible in images and frames, and exact spoken words in videos, so users can locate a memory without knowing its filename or opening files one by one. Media stays on the Mac: local models perform search, while watched folders can be imported and indexed automatically. Results can point to a specific video timecode.
Key features
- Search photos and videos by visual meaning with a local vision model.
- Find moments within videos and jump to their timecodes.
- Search visible text with OCR and spoken words with Whisper in separate modes.
- Automatically import watched folders and deduplicate renamed files using content hashes.
- Optionally chat locally over extracted dialogue, OCR, and filenames with cited answers.
Best for
Best for Mac users who want to find personal photos or specific video moments in a local media library without sending files to a cloud service.
